Mr. Bertsch began his martial arts studies in 1975 in Isshinryu Karate. In 1991, he began to pursue an interest in the aiki arts and began studying under Miguel Ibarra (Yamabushi Jujutsu and Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu). In 1999, Mr. Bertsch continued his Daito-ryu studies under Certa Sensei (Daito-ryu Yondan) until 2003. In addition to his martial arts studies, Mr. Berstch has instructed and assisted with a variety of training programs for both Civilian and Law Enforcement.
Today he continues his studies in Daito-ryu under Kato Shigemitsu Soshi and others in Hokkaido, Japan. Mr. Bertsch also studies Japanese Swordmanship (Shinkendo and Toyama-ryu) under Toshishiro Obata, who he has been studying with since 1992.

In 1982, while stationed as a Marine in Okinawa, Japan, Mr. Taylor began his martial arts interest and studies. Over the next ten years, Mr. Taylor continued his martial arts training in a variety of arts. In 1986, he became a Law Enforcement Officer and began researching and developing realistic unarmed confrontational training programs for Law Enforcement and Emergency Response Entry Teams.
In 1991, after developing an interest in Daito-ryu, he began studying under Miguel Ibarra (Daito-ryu Sandan) for the next several years. In 1999, Mr. Taylor continued his Daito-ryu studies under Certa Sensei (Daito-ryu Yondan) until 2003. Today, he continues his Daito-ryu training directly under Kato Shigemitsu Soshi and others in Hokkaido, Japan. Additionally, he studies Atarashii Naginata and is an active member of the RMNF.
